The first significant element in this story would have to be the setting.
"But we had reached a station. Those who were next to the windows told us its name. Auchwitz."
For anyone whos studied canadian history, they know that Auchwitz was among the most gruesom of camps the jews were situated in. Its the most commonly remembered camp and the fact that Elie escaped from it is extremely impressive and brave.
The second significant element in this story would be the main character (who is also the actor). There is no specific quote that you can pinpoint as showing that. Just the whole book itself is an amazing read and even more soo that he survived the terrible slaughterings from the Germans. Even further, he wrote about his memories which takes a strong person to write about what went on throughout his time at the horrible camps.
Good post. Just be sure to include a citation to go with the quote.
