12 Angry Men

This, I think is a great example of courage.During this novie study we were supposed to focus on logical fallacies these men were using and when they where not using logic properly. However, i was more focused on one mans courageous act. That man, as well know, is jurer number 8. The case is that these 12 men are all part of a jury. They are dealing with a circumstance in which the judge claims that an 18 year old boy murdered his own father. The boys life is on the line but the vote must be unanimous for the boy to be found guily. They hold a vote at the very start, 11 vote guily, 1 votes not guilty. That one is jurer number 8. At first all the other jury members attempt to persuade number 8 that the boy is guilty. 8 never said he knows the boy didnt kill him, he just said he wasnt sure and that when you are dealing with a life and death situation, that it is good to be 100 percent sure that the boy did kill him before he votes guilty. Eventaully number 8 goes on to persuade the whole jury based on his logic that the boy isnt guilty and there is no reliable source to tell any different. That i think is massive courage to go against what 11 smart, grown men thnik and eventually persuade them. It takes a lot of guts to be the one left out or the enemy, but he handled it as well as anyone could!
